![]() The 7.3 may sound like a diesel but she's a sweet engine and reliable as well. Hell just driving around town I get between 21 to 21.5mpg. Just bought an 03' F250 4x4 Lariat 7.3 with only 88k miles on it.Had to put a few mods on it to pep it up some, so Jody got my call Holey hell i could. So my feelings are the 7.3 which has a longer stroke gives it that low end torque that doesn't need the turbo to produce. For some reason the tunner does not see the change in charge air temp. And as well all know if you're making boost it needs more fuel. Now my driving style helps as well as I hardly ever see the boost gauge move and that's because with the tune this 7.3 has some incredible low end torque and throttle response. I know some of you are going to call bull shit on it but I had a friend along with me on this trip and right when we got into the Dallas area just before the I20 intersection I pulled over to fill up and he too couldn't believe how well this truck did. ![]() Traveling from Houston to Dallas on I45 which for the local folks know is very flat the whole way, had the wind in my tale I was able to get 28.4 mpg at 75 to 77mph. I put a gearvendors overdrive right behind the transverse case and with the 4:10s in the rear at 80mph my 7.3 is just under 2k rpms. I have a low mileage 70k miles 02 F350 4x4 DRW. However, the difference between a good tuner and great tuner is delivering power safely while improving the overall driving experience. Power with diesel tuning can come very easily with simple injection changes and pumping more fuel in the engine. ![]() While that's a very good hwy mileage it can be better. Jody Tipton has long been known for providing safe, reliable tunes with excellent drivability.
